The firm, trading as Bennett & Philp Pty Ltd, was established as an inner Brisbane City firm in 1984. It has grown to become one of the city's most reputable and best known medium sized legal firms, providing legal services to the business and wider community.
Originally formed as a small commercial practice, Bennett & Philp has expanded to represent the changing needs of some of the State's most prominent and distinguished entities. Our current commercial client list includes banks, credit unions, national hardware and plumbing groups, timber companies, liquidators, patent attorneys, an oil company, an insurance company, mercantile agents, a national engineering group as well as representatives from small business and local and federal government.
Bennett & Philp has also made successful inroads into other new and exciting areas of practice - areas affecting both the major commercial players and the individual alike. These new areas have ensured the continued growth of the firm, and allowed us to represent new and old clients both in Queensland and abroad.

Each of our professional staff have developed specialist skills in particular areas of law in recognition that specialisation is necessary given the proliferation of complex laws in today's society.
Our Structure
Unlike many large city firms, we have not adopted the "pyramid structure" where the directors are largely supervisors and liaison officers. Instead we have a very high director to staff ratio, reflecting a deliberate and conscious decision that the director should do their own work rather than delegate it and merely act as supervisors.
