Having acted for various media organisations for over 20 years Mark Jones heads the firms’ Defamation and Media Services Team. Mark represents clients from both the print and electronic media. He has successfully represented clients in major litigation before the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court of Australia.

 

His experience also includes injunction proceedings, contempt actions and judicial review proceedings.   He has also represented private individuals in prosecuting and defending defamation claims. From time to time he has been involved in a number of land mark decisions and in addition has successfully resolved numerous defamation matters through mediation and other alternative dispute resolution processes. 

 

In acting for media clients he regularly is required to provide pre-publication and programme advice. 

 

Mark Jones has significant experience in Commercial Litigation including Trade Practices disputes including the defence of actions brought by the ACCC. He also has experience in intellectual property disputes, partnership disputes, negligence claims and franchising litigation. In addition he has been involved in Leasing disputes including proceedings under the Retail Shop Leases Act and from time to time has acted in building and other contractual disputes.
