Michael is a Director of Bennett & Philp Lawyers and a key member in the Commercial Litigation team. His focus is on the early resolution of disputes for clients, avoiding the high cost and time involved in litigation proceedings.

Michael advises a number Australia's leading entities and corporates, including some of the country's largest listed companies and employers who hold diverse business interests spanning supermarkets, department stores, trade hardware, home improvement and office supplies, coal production and export operations, chemicals, energy and fertilisers and industrial and safety products.

With particular expertise in respect of secured debts, Michael advises and acts for insolvency practitioners and has a very strong practice in debt recovery, contractual disputes and insolvency matters.  

Michael also practices in employment law and workplace disputes. He acts for both employers and employees. He provides workplace “health checks” and provides advice to clients across a range of employment and industrial relations issues, including:

  • Contract preparation for employees and independent contractors;
  • Workplace policies, procedures and manuals;
  • Dismissals and redundancies;
  • Human resources advice;
  • Workplace disputes;
  • Discrimination, bullying and harassment;
  • Restraint of trade;
  • Workplace investigations, and
  • Workplace accidents and catastrophic claims.
