Bennett & Philp Facilitates Major Automotive Industry Transaction: Motorama Group Changes Hands

Bennett & Philp congratulates the former owners of the Motorama Group on their recent divestment of the shares in the Motorama Group to Hawaiian-based Servco Pacific Limited.

The team at Bennett & Philp acted as sole legal advisor for the sellers of the Motorama Group in the sale transaction, which completed in January 2024.

Lead lawyer on the sale, Chris Lillie said: “the sale further continues Bennett & Philp’s track record of demonstrated expertise in handling major transactions across a wide range of industries and is a tribute to the team work of the lawyers involved”. Chris Lillie is a Director in the Business Advisory team at Bennett & Philp and worked collaboratively with members of the Property & Real Estate team including Daniel Ronan, Director and Mitchell Fitzsimmons, Senior Associate on the transaction.

The Motorama Group operates from a number of locations across South East Queensland.  The group generates revenues exceeding $800 million per year and employs over 700 staff across Brisbane.   Following the sale, it will continue to operate under the Motorama name and will join Servco Australia’s 23 dealerships across the country.

Motorama Group was originally founded in 1960.  The group has sold and serviced vehicles in Southeast Queensland for more than 63 years. It represents a wide range of automotive brands, including Toyota, Ford, Mitsubishi, Kia, Mazda, Nissan, MG, Jeep and Chery and has become an iconic brand and a household name in Queensland.  Motorama also pioneered large-scale used car retailing in Australia and sells used vehicles through its store, Big Box Cars.
