Our Commitment to Sustainability (ESG) with AgCoTech

Climate Change | Smallholder Farmer Poverty | Gender Equality

We are proud to be a Brisbane law firm that embraces a practical and meaningful approach to climate change solutions.

We have partnered with AgCoTech to achieve this goal.

AgCoTech is an Australian company committed to improving the lives of farmers and their communities in developing countries whilst reducing the carbon footprint of corporations.

We are offsetting our total office emissions by purchasing high-fidelity AgCoTech Carbon Credits.

Our Journey to Zero

To start our journey to zero, we needed to measure our current carbon footprint to address opportunities to reduce or offset now and in the future. We identified 119 tonnes emitted by the firm during 2020/21 verified by an independent auditing process.

We have offset 94 tonnes of CO2e through the purchase of some high-fidelity AgCoTech Carbon Credits generated after the consumption of 200 medicated lick blocks by cattle in Laos.

We have committed to purchasing 50 additional tonnes of AgCoTech Carbon Credits for the 2022 financial year through their ongoing projects in Laos and Australia.

Why did we partner with AgCoTech?

It allows us to meet the overwhelming demand of our clients and employees to be socially responsible in a world that is now demanding accountable climate action in conjunction with measurable improvements of life quality in developing nations (UN SDG’s).

UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

  • No Poverty (1)– Lifting Laotian farmers’ incomes, therefore enhancing their quality of life (and that of the animals too).
  • Zero Hunger (2)– Providing Laotian families with more milk (40% of children in Laos are nutritionally deficient owing to a lack of quality protein and fats in their diets).
  • Quality Education (4) – Upskilling Laotian farming communities by enabling extension networks to educate sustainable animal production at the village level.
  • Gender Equality (5)– Employing 50% of Laotian women in the AgCoTech workforce.
  • Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (9)– Investing in manufacturing and distribution across Laos.
  • Climate Change (13)– AgCoTech’s technology reduces methane emissions while helping Laotian communities.

AgCoTech’s approach is unique – with a focus not only on reducing emissions, but also positively impacting the social and economic circumstances of Laotian farmers, and improving animal welfare.
