Founded in 1961, Multicap is a disability support organization employing over 900 staff and providing services from over 80 different locations.
Originally founded by five families for the purpose of caring for young children with high disability needs, the organization has grown extensively, providing a broad range of services including supported accommodation, centre-based respite, social support programs, supported employment as well as family support.
As Multicap’s customers grew, so did the organisation, and with this growth came the transition of school programs to the facilitation of training and employment programs for people eager to jump into the workforce. As they found that not all businesses supported all kinds of employment, Multicap set out to develop their own employment service. Multicap now runs four businesses that facilitate employment pathways for people with disability.

Initiatives
Our relationship with Multicap is led by Director and member of our Property and Real Estate team, Jacob Duane. Over the past year, Jacob has worked to build Bennett & Philp’s relationship with Multicap which has led to increasing involvement in initiatives to support the organisation.
FashionAble
In late 2018, the firm was proud to be the Gold Sponsor for Multicap’s FashionAble fashion parade and photographic exhibition. With a number of staff members in attendance, the event featured male and female models of all abilities showcasing ready-to-wear fashion by some of Queensland’s leading designers.
Alongside the fashion parade, the photographic exhibition was held, which included a competition judged by a panel of world-renowned industry professionals. The exhibition showcased the creative works of people with and without disability with the top 3 finalists from each category printed, framed, exhibited and made available for sale at the FashionAble event.

NFL Down Under
With the increasing popularity of American sports in Australia, including some rabid fans here at Bennett & Philp, the annual NFL Super Bowl championship game provided the firm with a great opportunity to entertain clients, referrers and friends while supporting an important cause.
Organised by the firm’s most passionate NFL fans, the event, located across the river at the Southbeach Social, revolved around a viewing party for Super Bowl LIII between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots. The day included great food and drinks as well as some excellent raffles and prizes with proceeds donated in support of Multicap.
The event was a tremendous success with over $1600 raised for the organisation as well as a stellar performance by the Patriots to take home the trophy.

We’re looking forward to a repeat of the event for next year’s game with some of the team already taking bets on which teams will be featured.

Brisbane Broncos
Recently, we organised for twelve Multicap clients to attend the Brisbane Broncos game versus the Gold Coast Titans at Suncorp Stadium. Through the generosity of the Brisbane Broncos, we were able to acquire some bonus tickets allowing us to invite more guests from Multicap than we originally anticipated.
After being treated to lunch at The Paddo Tavern, our guests headed down to Lang Park to experience the thrill of live National Rugby League.

Held on a sunny, winter afternoon, the conditions were almost perfect for both the crowd and the players.
Unfortunately for the avid supporters, the Broncos couldn’t pull through with the win, but the game offered everyone an exciting afternoon nonetheless.

The Multicap team loved watching the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium. We would like to thank the Brisbane Broncos team for kindly donating four extra tickets. Their generosity allowed us to offer more Multicap guests with an entertaining afternoon.
