It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Maurice Hannan, a cherished member of the Bennett & Philp team. Maurice was not only a distinguished pharmacist and lawyer but also a mentor and friend to many of us.
Maurice brought a unique blend of expertise to our firm, holding dual qualifications in law and pharmacy. He earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Queensland University of Technology. His extensive experience included owning and operating large pharmacies in Brisbane and Adelaide, which gave him a profound understanding of the practical challenges faced by pharmacists.
Maurice was a trusted advisor to his clients, providing practical and realistic advice on property and commercial business issues. His dedication to the pharmacy community and his commitment to excellence were unwavering. Maurice was a strong advocate for the pharmacy and allied health industries, previously serving on the Pharmacy Board of Queensland and holding a Directorship with Green Spot Chemists.
Andrew Lambros, Managing Director at Bennett & Philp, shared his thoughts on Maurice’s impact:
Maurice was with Bennett & Philp for over a decade and during that time I had the good fortune to spend a lot of time working with Maurice particularly in the pharmacy area and getting to know him and his undeniable passion for looking after his clients. He truly did go above and beyond in his efforts. I also found him to be great fun on a personal level as well and appreciated his insights and sense of humour. I will greatly miss our regular catch ups and chats in his office.”
The Directors and staff at Bennett & Philp extend their condolences to Maurice’s family, colleagues and friends during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
